Prolific Family-Owned Winery from New Zealand Producers of the Fastest Growing New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc in USA! Overview: Established by the three Giesen brothers almost 40 years ago. Originally from Germany, Theo, Alex and Marcel relocated to New Zealand’s South Island to start the winery in 1981, with their first vintage in 1984. At that time, there were only a handful of early producers and vineyards in Marlborough. Today Giesen is one of N ew Zealand’s top ten wineries and is known and respected for showcasing Marborough’s unique vineyard and vintage characteristics. Vineyards: Giesen own 13 unique vineyards located throughout the highly sought-after Wairau Valley, a subregion of Marlborough. All are responsibly farmed and over 20% are BioGro NZ Certified organic with more in transition. The 700 vineyard acres spread across the length & breadth of the valley giving a range of grape growing conditions and diversity. The flagship vineyard, Clayvin, is Marlborough’s first hillside vineyard and is considered one of t he region’s finest. Giesen also sources Chardonnay from Hawkes Bay. Winemaking: Chief Winemaker, Nikolai St.George has won ‘New Zealand Winemaker of the Year’ four times, most recently in 2019. He seeks aromatics, vibrant fruit, texture and balance across the range, from the Estate wines to the Single Vineyard Series. Use of German Fuder barrels add to the texture and complexity of the wines. Giesen delivers stylish wines that showcase the distinction and richness of the vineyards.

The popular Estate Sauvignon Blanc is sourced from multiple vineyards across the length and breadth of Marlborough’s famed Wairau Valley.
